South Beach Has Set A New Singapore Record!

In partnership with EcoBank, we have collected thousands of preloved clothes, accessories, toys and books that have been creatively repurposed and showcased through an actual spinning Ferris wheel, Christmas trees and display boxes across the South Beach development.

With close to 3,000 preloved items on display, South Beach has been awarded the “Largest Christmas Decoration of a Building using Recycled Materials” this year by the Singapore Book of Records. Visitors to South Beach are encouraged to take a slow stroll around this Gift Wonderland and discover the wonders of upcycling.

Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer of City Developments limited, said “In the race to a low carbon economy, CDL has long been committed to collaboration to amplify the impact of climate action.  EcoBank is a signature initiative by CDL since 2016 and has engaged tens of thousands of our stakeholders in the value chain and various communities collect used or preloved items for sale to reduce waste and to raise funds for the disadvantaged.  We are glad to contribute items collected for EcoBank 2020 to be repurposed and upcycled for South Beach’s Christmas displays. Through synergistic efforts and action, we will be one step closer to actualising Singapore’s vision of becoming a zero-waste nation by 2030.”

“Congratulations to South Beach! The initiative to incorporate recycled materials in this year’s Christmas decorations showcases that indeed everyone can do their part to contribute to a more sustainable planet. Sustainability and the adoption of a circular economy is close to Rabobank’s heart. Ranked the most sustainable bank, we work closely with our clients to enable their transition to a more circular business model thus making them more resilient and sustainable. Long may this Christmas Tradition last! ” agreed Harjan Kuiper, CEO Rabobank Singapore which is located at South Beach Tower.
